Techniques
Osteopathy can use different techniques to help your condition
As part of an osteopathic treatment, there are multiple techniques which can be used to enhance its effectiveness. These techniques can help to reduce pain, improve function and overall well-being. However, it is important to work with skilled practitioners who are trained in the principles and methodologies of these techniques to ensure their safe and effective use. Some of the most common techniques in our clinic include:

HVLA
High-Velocity/Low-Amplitude (HVLA) adjustments are a technique that restores joint mobility through a rapid, therapeutic force applied within the joint’s range of motion. This non-invasive treatment improves mobility, reduces pain, and enhances physical function.

VAGUS NERVE STIMULATION
Transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) is a non-invasive treatment that uses a mild electrical stimulation to activate the vagus nerve. tVNS can assist a variety of conditions such as autoimmune conditions, headaches and migraines, digestive issues, skin conditions (psoriasis, eczema, cystic acne), neural conditions (memory retention and concentration, balance and coordination), and depression and anxiety.

Suggested treatment for
CUPPING
Vacuum cupping uses suction to lift the skin and underlying tissues, this reduces fascial restrictions, and allows for improved range of movement and increased blood circulation. It is often combined with other manual therapy techniques, and can provide relief from muscle tension and stiffness, and improve ranges of movement.

DRY NEEDLING
Intramuscular dry needling uses solid filiform needles to penetrate the skin, focusing on the anatomical landmarks of the body to relieve pain, enhance range of motion, and improve circulation in superficial tissues. Our practitioners have degree level comprehensive training in dry needling, making them highly skilled in the principles and methodologies of dry needling.

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment option that helps alleviate pain and encourage healing. It works by delivering high-pressure sound waves to the affected area. It’s a great alternative for those who are looking for a drug-free solution for chronic conditions.

Low Level Laser
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a non-invasive therapy that uses infrared light wavelengths to treat muscle and nerve conditions. It helps improve healing time by encouraging natural cell and tissue repair processes, increasing function, and reducing pain and inflammation.

PREGNANCY TREATMENT
Common symptoms experienced during pregnancy include: Swelling of the hands or feet, sciatica, upper or lower back pain. Common symptoms experienced after a baby is born include: Neck, shoulder or back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches or migraines, and fatigue. Within the guidelines of pregnancy treatments, osteopathy is able to help during and post-pregnancy.

VISCERAL
Visceral techniques aim to improve an organ’s ability to exchange fluids and nutrients, reduce congestion, and improve the organ’s neural communications and functional movements by reducing abnormal tension placed on its surrounding tissues. Visceral techniques have been found helpful in treating depression, and digestive issues such as indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome and constipation.

OSTEOPATHY OF THE CRANIAL FIELD (OCF)
Cranial manipulation is a gentle technique where the practitioner uses focused, light touch to assess any tensions or strains of the connective tissues or bony plates of the skull. OCF aims to reduce these strains and improve symmetry of the bony plates.

Sports taping
Kinesiology taping is a technique used to enable the repositioning of the affected area to create better function while still allowing free movement of muscle or joint, while rigid taping stabilises a joint to prevent excessive movement reducing the chance of further injury.
